Diy . Light fixture hack .

I discovered Coleen & Company a while back and immediately fell in love with all of their light fixtures. Seriously, take a look...

How happy and fun are these?! They give me butterflies, I'm not even kidding.

When I was moving into my house, I knew that I wanted to replace our ceiling fan in the bedroom with a pretty light fixture. I loved the blue scalloped flush mount from above, but it was out of my price range. I started looking online to see if I could find anything similar and I came across this light fixture from Pottery Barn Kids. A light bulb went off and I immediately thought about the possibility of painting it to look like Coleen & Company's fixture.

So here is how I got the look-a-like in three easy steps:

1) Paint a couple of coats of whatever color you want the light fixture to be. You only need a quart of paint, so I bought a sample size which only came in an eggshell finish. I think a high gloss finish would be really pretty too.

2) While the paint on the fixture is drying, spray paint the center piece gold.

3) Once the paint is dry, paint the scallop tips white with a thin paint brush.

And ta-dah!! Here is the finished product...

This was a really easy and fun project that also saved me a lot of money. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out!
